On the 9th of January 2009, Rob Gauntlett, tragically died with his climbing companion James Atkinson, while ice climbing in the Alps.
In 2006, Rob and his friend James (Hooper) were the youngest Britons to reach the Mount’s Everest summit. They were only 19.
Between 8 April 2007 and 9 October 2008, Gauntlett and Hooper travelled from North to South Magnetic Poles to help raise awareness of climate change. The trip was 26,000 miles long (42 000 km) and it was performed using only human and natural power.
