13° OF PATAGONIA

What

13 Degrees of Patagonia is an ultra distance hike and packraft through Patagonia covering 1800 kilometres of fjords, glaciers, volcanoes, mountains and grasslands. The trip is named for the 13 degrees of latitude that will be spanned.

Why

The purpose of the trip is for an explorative experience of the Patagonian region. During the trip we will pass the regions of three water based indigenous groups, the Chonos, Kaweskar and Yamana. Our off track travelling will follow their own nomadic lifestyle, with packrafts and tarp shelter replacing canoes and skin based huts. Additionally we will be experiencing the modern settlement that has been spreading since Chilean independence in 1810, passing townships that were part of Chile’s consolidation of the Patagonian region.
