GERMAIN SISTERS TO HEADLINE RUNAWAY BAROSSA MARATHON

Adelaide’s indi pop trio the Germein Sisters have been turning heads across the globe and the critics have been raving about their catchy melodies and flawless harmonies. Now sisters, Georgia (guitar, keys), Ella (electric cello, bass) and Clara Germein (drums) are set to light up the Runaway Barossa Marathon ‘festival village’ on 21 October with their infectious indie pop tunes, irresistible charm and stunning live show.

Runaway Barossa Marathon is a new look at the traditional Barossa experience, a weekend escape with friends and family that brings together the unique wine and food experience the Barossa region allows you to indulge in your passion for running offering brand new, innovative marathon and half marathon courses (and 10km and kid’s runs) among the patchwork quilt of paddocks and vines of this stunning destination.

The Germein sister spent their childhood jamming together on their family’s bushland property in South Australia but it was in 2012 that the passionate songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Georgia, together with classically trained sister Ella on electric cello and bass, and self taught drummer Clara immediately grabbed the attention of the public when they made their Adelaide debut as a trio.

Attracting the attention of Irish producer Billy Farrell, who worked with Irish superstars The Corrs, the girls recorded their debut album “Because You Breathe”, but it was their highly anticipated performance at Isle of Wight Festival UK in 2015 alongside headliners Fleetwood Mac and Pharrell Williams), that gave the Germein Sisters exposure to a wider audience and their distinctive sibling sounds got music critics raving and knowing that they had discovered something very special.

The Germein Sisters have since been honing their sound alongside some of the music world’s biggest names supporting Sting, Paul Simon, Ronan Keating, Mark Seymour, Daryl Braithwaite (AUS), Renee Geyer (AUS), Brian Cadd (AUS), Russel Morris (AUS), and Joe Camilleri and the Black Sorrows (AUS).

Now it is time for the girls to be in the spotlight and share their immense talent, down to earth sunny personalities and suitcase full of stories with the athletes, supporters and visitors at the Runaway Barossa Marathon finish line at Peter Lehman winery in Tanunda.

With the girl’s grandmother growing up in the Barossa and the family being proud South Aussies, the Germein sisters are excited to be back home and performing in the beautiful Barossa Valley.

“We look forward to seeing fans, friends and families, and encourage them to come and enjoy a great day at this unique event, Runaway Barossa Marathon,” said lead vocalist Georgia.

“Georgia is a mad keen runner so she’ll be wishing she’s out running among the vineyards but we’ll keep her tied to her guitar. But seriously, we can’t wait to perform for the runners and supporters on the beautiful grounds at Peter Lehman winery,” sister Ella said.
